28 Jan Welcoming in 2024 at Penzance Physiotherapy and Pilates
2023 was a really busy but fantastic year for all our physios, and we are incredibly grateful to all our patients and supporters! As we settle into 2024, let’s take a moment to reflect on the highlights of 2023 for Penzance Physiotherapy and discuss what we’re excited for in the upcoming year.
2023 was the year of growth and collaboration
We welcomed a new addition to our team
In December we welcomed Alexia Clunies-Ross, also known as Lex, to our practice! Lex graduated with a First Class Honors in Physiotherapy from the University of West England in 2021 and has an earlier degree in Sports Performance and Coaching from the University of Plymouth.
Before joining us, she gained valuable experience in a private practice in Bournemouth and served as a lead physiotherapist at the Dorset Multiple Sclerosis Centre, showcasing her skills in musculoskeletal conditions. She also has a passion for strength and conditioning. We’re really excited to have her on board!
Our Physio First skills exchange workshops were a resounding success
In collaboration with Physio First (the Organisation of Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice), we hosted a series of Physio First skills exchange workshops which they generously sponsored and organised. These workshops brought together physiotherapists of all levels of experience, from students to seasoned specialists, from all across Cornwall.
What started as an opportunity to practice techniques on each other turned into a fantastic networking and skill-sharing event. Since the workshops we’ve had astounding feedback and we are planning to continue with more over this coming year.
Exciting updates and events for 2024
Lex is opening her brand new strength and conditioning studio
Our newest physiotherapist, Lex, has been hard at work preparing her Strength and Conditioning Studio, and it looks amazing. Patients are already benefiting from treatments in this new space, and Lex is gearing up to launch her first strength and conditioning class for runners. We might also see some fun social media content from her in the coming months.
Dominque Royle is going down to two days a week
With Lex on board, Dominique Royle is now enjoying a reduced workweek of two days at Clarence House, providing her with the freedom to pursue her other passions. For over 30 years, Dominique has specialised in working with musicians and performing artists. This change allows her to dedicate more time to supporting the well-being of these creative individuals.
Clarence House is planning an open day to connect with the community
We’re planning an open day at Clarence House Therapy Centre to give our community a firsthand look at what we do. We will give the community a chance to meet our team, including therapists, physios, and yoga, pilates, and tai chi Instructors. To sweeten the deal, we will team up with Sarah from Rosewall Bakery to provide delicious homemade bakes during the event.
Introducing our multidisciplinary workshops
Collaborating with other therapists and class instructors based at Clarence House, we are organising multidisciplinary training workshops. These sessions aim to provide an opportunity for all of us to come together and share our individual skills and expertise with one another. As physiotherapists, we strive to provide and improve wellness solutions for our patients, ranging from yoga and pilates to massage and counselling, based on individual preferences and needs.
We are testing out a new booking system
With increased physio capacity, we are trialling and launching a new online appointment booking system. Lex will be the first to trial this user-friendly platform, with some of the other physios coming on board later. Patients will be able to schedule appointments directly online, ensuring a prompt and convenient booking process. Patients will still be able to contact the physios in the usual way by phone, email, or text.
As we journey into 2024, Penzance Physiotherapy and Pilates is committed to enhancing our services, expanding our offerings, and fostering a healthier, more connected community.
